Remembering so many happy anniversaries

Like all of us, I'm sure, today is a bitter sweet day, with so many lovely memories of Christmas eve anniversary get-togethers at the farm. And even just the warm ritual of sending the anniversary card (with roses and sweet sentiments for Katie Nana's sensibilities!) and the long distance phone conversation which transported us in time and space ...
So here is a photo of Kate and Jim on their engagement in 1937(?) as they celebrate their 68th anniversary, and around the world we raise our glasses to the two of them...We can almost hear the returning clink on the breeze.
Chip, Dara, Pip and Timmy

Always remembered

A picture from Tyler's and Maddie's christening the last trip we saw Nan and Pop together, and remebering them on Christmas eve and all the anniversaries we shared with them, forever in our hearts and memories and hoping that they will be celebrating in style together for this one:-) We will be raising our glasses this end as I know you all will. Love hugs and kisses Heidi Jamie Tyler and Maddie xxxx

Have a wonderful Christmas, wherever you are. We're off early in the morning (fog permitting!), so this is Spratton (1) and (2) blogging off until the New Year. Love to you all, and BE HAPPY! Bev xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Timmy's Quebec Trip

I took this picture when I was on a school trip to Quebec City last month. I love Quebec City because of all the great history there. Everything has a story behind it. There are so many things to see and places to go. From The Chateau Frontenac to the Montmarcy Falls, the whole city is alive. I really enjoyed reenacting the Battle of the Plains of Abraham betwen the French and English. We threw snowballs as our musket balls and I even got to be General James Wolfe of England. My Quebec trip was fantastic and I hope to go there again in the near future. It was worth the nine hour drive from Toronto! Cheers Timmy.

School Report

It doesn't seem like Christmas yet, as the boys are still at school until Friday lunchtime.......doesn't seem right somehow, until you think of the LONG summer holidays they get.
We will get school reports soon, so the truth will out! But as he is too modest to blog it himself, let it be known that Timmy got 98% in his History test. I think he takes after his Dad. Pip is doing very nicely too, and applying to Universities like crazy as the dealine is just after Christmas. It doesn't seem real that it is his last year at school....

Turks and Caicos Sunset

Here's a sunset from our commute to work in October, when we were on Providenciales Island in the Turks and Caicos for one of our radio shows...Pete and Pauline: do you remember those wonderful sunsets from when you were on the island? And thank you for sending the CD's...it will be lovely to watch them over the Xmas break.

An English sunset - 'What a beautiful day'.

Trust China to go all poetic on us, and some of us don't go to work, you know! Anyway, I was up early enough to see the most amazing sunrise, the sort you only get on a cold winter morning, and an equally glorious sunset tonight, which I'm publishing in Turner-esque style to add to the effect (OK, so I didn't hold the camera still but there's no need to tell everyone). Bev

TRYING TO GET THE WORDS TO MATCH THE PICTURE.....TRY THIS ONE OF JAMIES WEDDING...PETE.

Pop's CD

Kirsty,
Pip did another CD for Pop which I received a couple of days ago - don't know if I could copy it and send you - I'm sure it would be much easier for Cousin Pip to do it!
Well done, Canada - we all managed to get there on the same day, albeit an unusually long day starting with the most easterly contingent and finishing with the most westerly (OK, Chip, so it's arguable whether you or Heidi are further west!!!).
Love you all, Bev

Pip's Musical Addition

Canada Makes Bid for Up-Blogmanship

A few hours ago, Canadian Family Robinson went on our traditional trek into the Woods of the North to saw down our own Christmas Tree. Here's the picture of this tree-mendous event!

Canada Calling

Great idea Kirsty!
Our first picture effort is probably the same rainbow that Kirsty shows in her picture...at more or less the same time, Pop Jim and I were admiring the rainbow across the fields that appeared to be positioned just so Pop Jim could see it from his bed...And of course he piped up "lubberly day"...

The picture, by the way, is of the rainbow that appeared as we drove away from the farm for the last time....the other end of it was over the flat. Really.
