Where in the World?

Here's one for the golfers amongst us...I'm just back from my latest trip and this golf course hole is called the 'Tail of the Whale'. The tee is on the mainland and the green is on an islet in the ocean. The club provides an amphibious vehicle to get between the two. Where was I?

Can you say 'SCARY'!!!! We have now got to the point where you have to be 'scary'! not cute anymore! so here Tyler is in his 'bloody' mask! and Maddie being the wicked witch! Halloween was fun - yet another new neighborhood to 'test out'!

Hope this find you all healthy and happy - Next Thanksgiving and M&D's visit can't wait:-)

Peter Pan does it again in 3hrs 21 mins

No photo yet to show the triumphant moment - but Chris ran the Toronto Marathon today. His time was a personal best - 3hrs 21 mins - a whole 6 mins quicker than his previous best time, set 18 YEARS AGO in the London Marathon. Not only does this qualify him for Boston again next year, it proves that as the rest of us are getting older......Peter Pan continues to get younger every day!
Love to all
Dara

Finished!

New kitchen finished at last (Steve Wood Bathrooms is now Steve Wood Bathrooms and Kitchens!)
Well worth the wait - and the grandchildren are definitely happy having a much larger area to trash!

Swine Flu Thanksgiving!

No trip to the cottage for Thanksgiving weekend this year: both Tim and dara have H1N1 flu, so we are hunkered down at home. Pip insists on wearing a mask so he doesn't catch it too. Of course, this also means that Dara can't handle the turkey, so we set up the surgical team as shown above to work on stuffing the turkey under Dara's supervision. Who knew you could stuff so much up a turkey's backside?? And we are about to find out how much you can stuff into a Pip and Chip!

I´m sure it was bigger than that....but maybe I was needing a fishermans tale?
Just for the record, a 6lb Salmon out of Boat Pool on Boleside, Tweed.
First on the fly for me, so I know someone up there was helping me out !
Had a great time with Pap´s on his birthday too, riverside BBQ and a bottle of Bubbly on the beat...Doesn´t get any better than that. Thanks Dad.

Love to all from Portugal, Clare and Max both fine, Max is now at his new school (loving every minute) and Clare has had a good year with the rentals on both our apartment and her company. Sorry for the lack of post´s...been a tough year I think for most..so here´s looking forward to a more prosperous 2010!
Planning Christmas here in Portugal (first time in 6 Years!) and then away somewhere in the New Year. So watch out and lock your doors, as you never know where we will end up !!!

Ciao 4 Now. Jamie

And Happy 40th Kirsty!

And with such a special birthday, Kirsty, I don't see why you should be spared the blast from the past either, so here you are in the garden of Boughton Mill circa 1971...Happy Birthday from all of us here...So pleased you have settled in so quickly to Singapore slings. Love C, D, P & T

Happy Birthday Sis!

As Co-Chair of the Union of Brotherly Robinsons - and in the pescatorial absence of our other Co-Chair - I don't see why our Sister should get away with posting embarrassing photos of us on our birthdays without receiving one of her own on hers...So here is your chance to relive August 1957 all over again! Love Chip

That photo was really a video but I couldn't get it to upload onto Blogger, so I've put it (and another one) onto YouTube _ the link is : Kirsty's 40th Hong Kong and then follow the other The Bevanne (that's me) link to get to the one with Gabi on.

40!!!

Gabi and I flew out to Hong Kong for the weekend for Kirsty's surprise party - and she was surprised!

Its Official......

Two "watery" shots - the top from Stratford and the bottom from Kingston (both Ontario...). The first suggests it, the second proves it - Tim is now officially taller than Chip. There is nothing left for him to do except run Marathons.......

No Prizes for this One!

A few pictures from our short trip to the UK. No prizes for "where in the world are we" - the boys and I had a lovely day in London. I thought Big Ben was looking fabulous after his clean up, and the Eye was a great way to see it all. Thought of Pop and Katie Nana as we glided around. The lower picture shows my boys all dressed up to take their Gran and assorted cousins and others to posh English Cream Tea. My Mum (next to Tim) was looking really well - I am thinking of signing up for a pacemaker myself..... I need some more energy!

new school year.......new school ...again!!!!

Well here we are in Kentucky, new school, new friends, even a new Kindergartener!! By all accounts a great first day all around, Maddie couldn't get that grin off her face and was full of news when she arrived home starving and tired!! and Tyler had taken up soccer at recess and made new friends who he was excited about and loves his new teacher (so far!!!) I on the other hand tried very hard to fill the hours that went by very slowly today:-) School should help us all start to get settled and start feeling like we have a new 'home'. Love to one and all, miss you all

China Has Become Singapore!

Well, the little House Gascoins have happily adopted their new country, as can be seen from the patriotic flag-waving (it's National Day here on Sunday and flags are infesting every non-moving object at the moment). We are squatting in serviced apartments until our apartment is ready in a couple of weeks...Kevin has started school, and I am exploring with the kids and trying to find iron grille manufacturers to childproof our new 9th floor balcony. Had a wonderful time at the zoo today, and became a member so we can go whenever we like...there is a fabulous water play area there which makes it worth going to every week. All coping with the heat very well, the jetlag was worse - Felix has only just stopped going to bed at 1.30am! We are enjoying being with our friends from Thailand, Barry and Leah and their two boys, again - they've just moved here too, and it's great to have friends to play with!
Anyway, love to all - we should become regular posters now that a) the blog is no longer blocked to us (thanks, China Netnanny) and b) I no longer have to go out to go to work ( I hesitate to say I'm not working after the last few days spent on my own with the kids!!)

So Long Clem...

We thought Clem's passing should be commemorated by an entry on the Blog, so here's a pic from 2001 on the Farm. Bye Clem: you were much loved by lots of us - now go curl up with Ginger one more time...

Tim Time

Oh to be 14 again...Tim's summer started with receiving the Principal's Award from school and his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award...and then after a few days recuperation from parental adulation, he's off to Camp for the next month. The pic is of his cabin that he shares with eight other kids...all mod cons, including a picturesque out-house that's a long walk thro bear-infested woods and is graphically called a "long-drop"...I have a horrible feeling that when we collect him next month, he's going to be taller than me too! Love C, D, P and in absentia T

Cottage Opening - Summer's Here!

Here in the Colonies (the Loyal Colonies, that is!), we celebrated Queen Victoria's Birthday last weekend. This is the signal for all woodsmen to open up the cottage and see what the ravages of winter have wrought. In our case, the ice break-up on the lake has taken away our dock - no easy feat when the thing is 8 feet by 20 feet! No sign of it so far, despite scouring the lake by canoe and boat. Meantime, the woods are sprinkled with white trillium - not as colourful as the bluebell woods, but still very pretty. The weather is all over the place: zero on Sunday, 28C today. And the blackfly are carrying off anything smaller than a mastodon: Bev - you wouldn't last 5 seconds! Hope all are well. Now go raise glasses to Queen Vicky!
Love C, D, P & T

More Running Robinsons

It was the Yonge Street 10K race today. All three boys ran and turned in impressive times but honours go to Tim who came 5th in the official rankings for his age. Which means he gets an award of some kind and he was only 20 secs away from winning $100! Pop Jim would be smiling.
Chris is happy too because he beat Pip for the first time since 2006 (all that Marathon training!).
And Pip is happy because, after being out on the town last night and a surfit of chicken wings and beer, he managed to run at all!
Here are the official results:
Chris: 40mins 31 secs. Placed 323 out of 13,000 runners and 11th in his age category.
Pip: 42mins 23 secs. Placed 535 out of 13,000 runners and 32nd in his age category.
Tim: 43mins 43secs. Placed 751 out of 13,000 runners and 11th in his age category by "chip time" but 5th overall in the official race "gun time" and one of the 5 award winners.
So Pip has to look over his shoulder for Tim next year, by which time Tim will also be looking down on Chris judging by the height difference....
Love to all from Canada
